View of the Decades
This is my personal list of the best films of the past decades. I’ve ranked them based on how much I enjoyed watching them as well as whether they’re still worth seeing today. It’s not a “best-of” movie list (which would be like ranking all of Shakespeare’s plays), but rather one which features 10 great films that are among the most memorable, influential, or just enjoyable.
4. The King’s Speech – 9/10
I’m sure many people who haven’t seen this film will disagree with me, but it’s an excellent piece of art by director Tom Hooper that also tells an important story about overcoming adversity and finding courage.
3. Up – 8/10
It’s hard to believe that Pixar made its first feature-length movie over 25 years ago. With an impressive cast headed by Ed Asner and Jordan Nagai, Up follows retired balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen (Asner) and his grandson Russell (Nagai) on an adventure through the Himalayas searching for a rare bird’s nest.
2. Toy Story 3 – 8/10
When Toy Story came out in 1995, it was a huge hit that started a craze. Now almost 20 years later, it remains among Pixar’s best work to date. This third installment in the series does not disappoint — it continues to deliver adorable characters and incredibly original stories with tons of humor.
1. Hugo – 7/10
Hugo is probably one of the more visually spectacular movies I’ve ever seen. And even though it takes place in the future while playing best online pokies real money games, it still works because the special effects are done so well.
Conclusion
Grossing far and wide, these productions made real money over the years, bringing in millions at the box office. They were nominated for countless Oscars, winning some prestigious ones, such as Best Picture in the 2010 category!
